Our Story

Biggirlshoes is a niche footwear brand exclusively designed for women, teens and tweens with shoe sizes from EU 41 to EU 47.

How it All Started

Biggirlshoes was founded by Danielle Lake, a Nigerian female, born and raised in Lagos in the 1980s. Standing at a height of 5 feet 8 inches tall, Danielle has always had big feet and the longest pair of feet amongst her siblings. At the age of 11, Danielle wore a shoe size of EU 41, and she currently wears EU 43.

In 2010, Danielle moved out of Nigeria to the United Arab Emirates and struggled to find suitable shoes to buy. Footwear shops in Dubai only sold ladies shoes with sizes up to EU 41 and on the rare occasion that bigger sizes were sold, they were not as pretty, out of season or unisex/men sizes especially in the sports shoes category.

It quickly dawned on her that she could only find her shoes from a) A limited number of brands and b) from online stores outside of the UAE. Out of the need to find shoes for her big feet to wear to special occasions, work, sports, and even sandals to the beach, BIGGIRLSHOES Footwear Brand was founded.
